Martin currently works as an Emeritus Consultant in Spinal Injuries at the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre in Sheffield.
He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians.
Martin was previously the Clinical Director of the Specialised Rehabilitation Services Directorate on Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (NHS) Foundation Trust. This included Spinal Injuries, Neurorehabilitation, wheelchair services, the Gait Laboratory, amputee services & orthotics.
President of the British Association of Spinal Cord Injury Specialists (BASCIS) from 2012-2014 and past chairman of the UK Spinal Cord Injury Research Network.
Although now retired from clinical practice, Martin remains a Trustee of the Governing Council of National charity, the Spinal Injuries Association.
